I made another batch of the white stuff.
I sense this is becoming a bit of a thing with me. My habit of the moment. My go-to guzzler.
So, for a bit of a full-on antioxidant/energy boost, I mixed up the following:
1 1/2 cups coconut mylk
1/2 tsp organic raw maca
1 tbsp. organic raw spirulina
I threw all ingredients into a glass jar, put a lid it, and gave it a good shake (a quick pulse in the blender would be even better to smooth out the lumps). Et voila – one va-va-voom of a healthy quaff!
In my excitement over the simplicity of whipping up a dose of coconut mylk last post, I forgot to share my top 5 nutritional benefits of this wonder food. Here you have it:
- Coconut improves heart health – short- and medium-chain fatty acids help lower the risk of atherosclerosis and protect against heart disease. Lauric acid raises beneficial HDL cholesterol and lowers overall blood cholesterol.
- Coconut provides a quick energy boost – these unique fatty acids are used to produce energy rather than stored as body fat. Coconut helps with chronic fatigue, stabilizes blood sugar, and supports healthy thyroid function.
- Coconut water aids with metabolism and digestion – it is packed with electolytes, minerals and enzymes, and helps absorb fat-soluble vitamins.
- Coconut oil is immune-boosting – it helps the body resist viruses and bacteria that lead to illness. It also fights off yeast, fungus and candida.
- Coconut oils are anti-aging – they have a positive antioxidant action in the body, helping to stop damage to other healthy fats and tissues in the body.
