Sipping on comfort

It’s cold here!

Geez. I’ve become a bit of a wimp when it comes to temperature. Having spent most of my life braving radical weather extremes back east, I find that I’ve nestled rather cozily into the luxury of a more gentle clime here on the Lower Mainland. Not too cold in winter, not too hot in summer – a lovely, balanced meteorological Zen that makes me happy.

So, when  the weather occasionally veers off its expected path out here, it takes a moment to adjust. At present, our temperatures are colder than normal for this time of year. My 4-tissue walk with the dog this morning ended with frozen thighs and numb fingertips. Yup, winter is on.

The upswing is that the sun streams through the window as I plow through my work day. Cold temps often come with blue skies and sun. Phewf.

And in between cups of steaming herbal tea, I’m enjoying a spiced-up version of my plain old Mason jar of water.

A couple of tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar (for digestive health), a generous sprinkling of pumpkin pie spice (non-irradiated, of course), and a wee dribble of raw honey (or organic stevia).

Tastes like apple pie, and feels like home.
