‘Got my productive morning off to a super start, with a bangin’ basil bevvie. Yum!
Freshly returned from a 2-hour early morning walk with Dundas, a big green smoothie was on the breakfast menu. Weekends call for a dose of decadence, and this thick, creamy potion more than met the challenge!
Basil-Strawberry Green Smoothie
Ingredients
1 cup water
thumb-sized chunk of fresh ginger, peeled
1-2 tbsp. flax seeds
1 tbsp. spirulina powder
1 tsp chlorella powder
1 tbsp. maca powder
1-2 tbsp. raw cacao powder
1 tbsp. coconut powder (optional)
4-5 leaves/stems green chard
large handful fresh parsley
1/2 head green leaf lettuce
large handful fresh basil
8-10 large frozen strawberries
Directions
Place water, powders and greens into high-power blender; blend on high. Add frozen strawberries. Whirl until smooth. Add more water if prefer smoothie more liquid-like.
