Hello and welcome! My name is Julia Denker. I’m a post-secondary administrative guru and a holistic nutritionist and a writer. What a unique combination, right?

After a lengthy and successful run in university administrative management, I decided to take a wee break in order to pursue my sideline dream of becoming a nutritionist. The decision was long in the making, but everything seemed to come together for me in the summer of 2012 and I knew the time was right to tackle a major item on my bucket list.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Knee-deep in anatomy, healing the gut protocols, and environmental toxins woes, I was head-over-heels in love…with this program. Over the years, I had taken nutrition-related courses, read copious books and articles, and shared the information with friends, family and colleagues. Now I looked forward to properly arming myself with nutritional know-how in a formal way.

Fast forward to today: I have completed the program, topping my grand experience as class valedictorian – what an honour, to be sure! I have since returned to the world of administrative leadership, feeling ever more empowered, healthy, and balanced…so much the better to tackle every-day work challenges.

 what’s this blog all about?
I’m excited to share a wealth of nutritional and healthy-living information with you. While this blog will appeal most to the more mature woman (late 30’s and beyond), younger audiences and the menfolk will find plenty of interesting nutritional tidbits to incorporate into their lives, too. I’d also like to lend some nutritional words of wisdom to my high-powered executive friends.

I’ve known for a very long time that what we put in our mouths has a direct effect on our health. We truly are what we eat. Well, usually. Sometimes, the good stuff we eat isn’t actually absorbed by the body for a host of reasons. A holistic nutritionist can help you figure out why nutrients aren’t absorbed and help to fix the root of the problem. We look at your entire life experience, both current and past, and focus on you as a biochemically unique individual.

In other words, it’s not all about dieting and especially not one-size-fits-all diets. Eating should be a pleasurable experience – delicious, visually pleasing, and healthy. The important thing is to get to know your body, what foods work for you and what foods don’t. And always, always eat whole foods. Avoid the standard American diet of heavily processed, chemically-laden foods that lead to sickness, disease and early aging. Keep it simple, fresh and local. And delicious.

I want you to feel as vibrant as I do. I will share many tips and tools to help get you there. Treat your body with love and respect and you will reap the benefits of a long, active and joyous life.

God only knows – lol – but I couldn’t believe how you were planted in my space yesterday at Nature’s Fare!!!! Thank you for valiantly offering your expertise and time as I had so many questions on my grocery list for my latest venture of eating “cleaner”!
